A family run Country House with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, within Dartmoor National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Lydford House has been welcoming guests for over 100 years and was built by the celebrated artist William Widgery (1822-1893), standing in 8 acres of delightful gardens and pastureland in the historic village of Lydford close to the Devon/Cornwall border. There are nine spacious well-equipped en-suite bedrooms as well as two charming self-catering apartments: the Coach House and the Nest. All rooms have tea & coffee making facilities, hairdryers, colour TV, etc. with most rooms having free access to broadband wireless internet. A twin ground floor room is available and one of our superior rooms has a four-poster. All of our rooms are non-smoking. The house is surrounded by extensive gardens and grounds where you can stroll and get to know some of our resident horses, hens, cats and goats or sit on the patio next to the ponds and relax to the sound of the waterfalls and enjoy a cream tea. There is a large private car park. On cooler evenings have a glass of wine or beer around the log fire in our elegant guest lounge and make friends with our friendly collie, Toby and red setter, Gypsy.

The lamp-lit bar with low, bowed ceilings, open fire and granite walls, and our lovely snug area with high backed settles making it very cosy and private. The restaurant with it's lamp-lit beamed ceilings and ancient Saxon fireplace originating from the castle next door, and the characterful lounge area allow one to relax after a hard day's walking on the nearby moor.
