Potters Mooring was formerly a sea captains residence and dates from 1625 when Shaldon was a small fishing community. Today Potters Mooring has been lovingly refurbished to the highest standards whilst retaining it's quiet charm and historic appeal. Whilst all but one room enjoy en-suite facilities, if you book early you could choose our large family room with sea view or our quaint courtyard cottage which is ideal for families or friends. Potters Mooring occupies an enviable position overlooking the village bowling green, surrounded by elegant houses and picturesque cottages, only yards from the mouth of the River Teign and surrounding beaches. Across the river is the busy Victorian town of Teignmouth which can be reached by the famous passenger ferry.
The Bay Hotel was established in 1864 and occupies a superb position on Teignmouth's seafront, only yards from the town centre, beach or main shopping centre. Free wireless internet and parking. If travelling further afield, we are only 15 minutes from Newton Abbot and 20 minutes from Torquay and the Cathedral City of Exeter.

Dartmoor is an easy drive away. Located to the east (approximately 12 miles) is the beautiful city of Exeter. To the west (approximately 13 miles) is Torbay, Paignton and Brixham. Further west still is Plymouth (approximately 40 miles). Many attractions are located in the area including the Miniature Pony Centre, Quaywest, Powderham Castle, Crealy, Living Coasts, Pennywell, Woodlands to name but a few. The town of Dawlish has been a popular seaside resort since the 18th Century. The stream that flows through the town is home to many breeds of waterfowl including the famous black swans, the town emblem. Beside the stream is a large park (the lawn) with colourful flower beds and exotic plants. There are three beaches, the town beach, Boat Cove and the award winning, sandy Coryton Cove. The town has many individual shops, cafes, inns and eateries. Also a theatre, museum, leisure centre and 18 hole approach golf course, mini golf, bowling green and the famous South West Coastal Path runs past the door. In August the annual carnival takes place with a whole week of entertainment, displays and exhibitions. This usually includes a visit from the famous Red arrows on Carnival Day (Thursday) itself, as well as a spectacular parade of floats in the evening.

The Cromwell Arms is an old coaching inn situated in the heart of Bovey Tracey The Gateway to Dartmoor. Although part of the St Austell Brewery estate, The Cromwell Arms is run privately, with much of the building dating back to the 16th century, and there are many reminders of the civil war period when Cromwells troops were encamped in the area around the inn. Modernised over the years, but retaining much of the old character, we now have AA 3 star Inn rating. All rooms are en-suite with colour TVs showing a selection of free view channels, direct dial telephones, tea and coffee making facilities and hairdryers in all bathrooms. Rooms are available all year, with the exception of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and all include a choice of full English or continental breakfast in the room tariff. Higher Rixdale Farm is a working farm which enjoys the peace and tranquillity of the glorious South Devon countryside. Its 105 acres consist of protected heath land which is part of Little Haldon with wonderful views, its own beautiful woodland and stream and grassland for our traditional Ruby Red cattle and sheep to graze and for haymaking. There is an abundance of wildlife. Wild deer can be seen grazing and hares race across the meadows. The farm is situated in one of the best areas for bird watching, with some quite rare birds including the Cirl Bunting, Nightjar, Woodlark and Dartford Warbler. The farm also includes a site of special scientific interest where some very special plant species including Sweet Gale, Sundews and Orchids can be found. Also on the farm are hut circles and burial sites which date back 4000 years. At the end of our lane, The Elizabethan Inn offers wonderful food, real ales, quality wine and local cider. In the immediate area there is golf, sandy beaches, water sports, walking, cycling, horse riding, fishing, tennis, bowls, crazy golf, river trips, to name but a few local activities.
The White Hart Hotel has stood in Moretonhampsted square for three and a half centuries and has played a pivitol role in village life. Lustleigh is a picturesque village in the Dartmoor National Park with thatched cottages clustered around the Church, Village Green and 15th Century Pub. There are many lovely walks on the Moor and around the village itself; other well known beauty spots are only a short car journey away. The Old Bakery was built in Victorian times in the garden of the Millhouse. It provided bread for the parish of Lustleigh until after the First World War. Careful and tasteful renovation has produced light and spacious one-bedroom accommodation, ideal for two persons. The old original oven has been retained as a feature of the sitting room. The Downs Hotel, is an attractive licensed hotel standing in the centre of Babbacombe Downs with breathtaking panoramic sea views overlooking Lyme Bay.
